The Livecut VST plugin was developed to be a live beat-slicer but instead of manipulating equal chunks of audio like most beatslicer do, it works on the notion of audio cuts whose length and number.
Our pal saintjoe over at http://soundsandgear.com/ did this great review of the new “Vice” Slicer Sampler plugin by Sonic Arts I’ve actually been looking for something exactly like this, so was a cool find for me, here’s what stj had to say:“Today I’m reviewing a product from New Sonic Arts, a smaller developer making some pretty cool products. The one I’m checking out today is VICESample Slicer Vst
Let’s dig in!
So what is VICE?
It’s a sampler/slicer plugin with a super clean interface and the ability to add up to 4 insert fx per slice, as well modulation, multi output, and host automation support.
I love the crisp and simple layout, but it’s a quick way to play with your samples and turn them into an instrument without having to worry about destructively altering your audio.
Of course everything can be triggered via MIDI, you can slice manually or using the multiple detection algorithms, and the interface makes it quick to add multiple fx to all slices or individual slices.
It’s a very flexible way to play with your loops, and though it’s powerful, the interface is just so clean!
Quick Specs
- engine: 32 bit audio, unlimited slices, 8 stereo outpus, individual envelope, fx, and modulation per slice
- format: AU, VST, supports WAV and Aiff, native .vi format
- product page:https://www.newsonicarts.com/html/vice.php?ref=836548
- price: $89
So what’s the bottom line?
I love it when smaller developers take a chance and release things they’ve been thinking about. The developer behind New Sonic Arts has had his hand in some pretty popular tools over the years, to see his take on his own products is very refreshing.
Free Vst Slicer
What I dig about the design is how clean it is, how smoothly the visuals are when zooming in, and how powerful the tool is without being overly complex.

Beat Chopper is a free VST plugin that allows you to load an audio sample, split it, and trigger it from various positions by MIDI.
You can split the sample evenly to 4, 8, 16 or 32 parts or use automatic split point detection that is based on volume. The user interface displays the waveform, chop points, and current playing position.
Free Trap Beat Vst Plugins
Beat Chopper is a great tool for slicing up a beat sample and make variations of it. However, you don’t have to limit yourself just to drum loops – use your imagination and, for example, slice up a guitar riff!
Fruity Slicer Vst
The plugin supports only loading of WAV files.
Currently the plugin is only available as Windows DLL. It has been tested on Reaper and Hermann Seib’s VSTHost. In addition to these programs Beat Chopper rocks in all music production environments or DAWs implementing VST instrument support, including Cakewalk, Cubase, and FL Studio.
